Cornucopia is Whistler'sCelebration of Wine and Food. This incredible event takesplace over the November long weekend from the 10th to13th. Over the four days you can take part in anumber of events, including seminars hosted by renowned industryprofessionals. As well as the great line upof seminars you can experience gala tasting events, winemaker'sdinners and famous after-parties. The CRUSH Gala Tasting held on the Friday and Saturdayevening at the Whistler Conference Centre is the flagship tastingevent of Cornucopia. This is the one event you donot want to miss during the Cornucopia weekend. This is agreat event suitable for everyone, whether you are an experiencedgourmet or just appreciate a glass of wine. Enjoy the vibrantatmosphere whilst you sip, sample and savour your way throughdozens of wineries from all over the world.
After the CRUSH Gala tastings there will be the infamousAfter Parties! Details have yet to be announced, so checkback later when all will be revealed.
Other highlights of the weekend include the HouseParty on Thursday evening at the Whistler ConferenceCentre. This is a new hot event of the year, House Partycombines live music with local foods and domestic wines.
Day time events include the Viking Stage Seriestastings, Chef's Trip to the Farm, Chef's Table Luncheonand number of seminars.

The second RBC GranFondo Whistler will be taking placeon Saturday September 10th. This epic 122 kmbike ride from Vancouver to Whistler will bring more than 7,000riders plus their families and fans to Whistler and the area.
This is going to be an incredible weekend in Whistlerwith lots happening, including a free performance by54-40! As part of the Whistler Presents summer concertseries there will be free concerts and entertainment at theWhistler Olympic Plaza to celebrate the GranFondo weekend!
On Friday September 9th at 6.30pm head overto the Whistler Olympic Plaza to see the electro funk tunes ofVictoria's Kuba Oms. After the free show there will be ascreening of the family-friendly film, BreakingAway, at 7:30 p.m. Make sure you bring a blanketand sweater to watch this charming film. This Academy Awardwinner (1979, Screenplay) cycles high on comedy as four friendscome to terms with life after high school. When top-notch cyclistDave (Dennis Christopher) learns that the world's bicyclingchampions are always Italian, he attempts to turn himself into anItalian, driving his parents (Barbara Barrie, Paul Dooley) crazy.But everything changes after he meets the Italian racing team-anencounter that ultimately leads him and his friends (Dennis Quaid,Daniel Stern, Jackie Earle Haley) to challenge the local collegeboys in the town's annual bike race.
During the day on Saturday if you are not participatingin the GranFondo, make sure you cheer and congratulate the7000 plus riders as they end their epic bike journey in WhistlerVillage. The finish line is the best place for spectators toview the RBC GranFondo Whistler.
On Saturday evening 54-40 will be performing at 7 pm onthe stage at the Whistler Olympic Plaza. Theselegendary Vancouver rockers will be playing all their hits. Theyare one of Canada's all-time favourite bands and their hits includeBaby Ran, She La, Casual Viewin', One Gun, Ocean Pearl, Love YouAll, and Music Man.
This is going to be a great weekend and a great excuseto stay the whole weekend in Whistler whether you are a fan orparticipant.

Whistler Presents is a FREE outdoor concert seriesat the new Olympic Plaza. Colin James is the featured actwith Gonch Messiah opening the evening's musical entertainment.
Colin James rocks the blues like no other Canadianartist. His musical roots hint of Praries beginnings withsome jazz, a lot of rock, folk and even a dash of punk. Colin(image right) has studied the greats including Ry Cooder, OtishRush, Albert King, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy and the incredible SteveRay Vaughn... just to name a few.
Some of his most popular hits includes "Voodoo Thing" and "FiveLong Years" and he'll be rockin' out these and a lot more includingtunes from his most recent release "National Steel" at the WhistlerPresents concert on Saturday August 13.
Gonch Messiah are billed as one of Vancouver's premierFUNK bands. Think funky rythm guitar, congas, horns andmaybe a little hacky sack and tiedye t-shirts thrown in. Lookingfor fun? Gonch Messiah put the fun in FUNK!

If you are a participantor spectator for the GranFondo bike event on Saturday, stay theweekend in Whistler as there is a lot happening. As partof the summer concert series Whistler Presents will be hosting anumber of free performances over the weekend.
The Victoria's native Kuba Oms will be performing onFriday evening, starting at 6:30 p.m at theWhistler Olympic Plaza. He is known for his electro funktunes. His music is often likened to a cross betweenJamiroquai, Paolo Nutini, David Gray, Ben Harper and Al Green.
After the performance by Kuba Oms there will be anevening film screening of a classic film called BreakingAway. This classic comedy from 1979 was an Academy Awardwinner. Enjoy the evening as you get to watch a movie in theoutdoors and see the sun set behind Whistler and BlackcombMountain. Bring warm clothes and snuggle up under a blanket towatch this movie about four friends who come to terms with lifeafter high school. The film is centered on top-notch cyclistDave (Dennis Christopher) who learns that the world's bicyclingchampions are always Italian and he attempts to turn himself intoan Italian!
